17 hours to go from 34 to 19 weeks synchronizing https://imgur.com/D98W7OY With bigger blocks how much longer could this be expected? This seems to be very, very long already... Is there any plan to fix this? Maybe including a torrent link within the client? And does anyone have any protips to speed it up? I cranked that DB cache up already. I think with the length of time to do this update, the cloud WILL be hosting all the nodes in the future unless something changes. Who the hell has time to wait for days? I could've spun out a Node on Azure in a half hour (having never done it before, probably 5 minutes after that). Just like the cloud WILL be hosting most business IT Server's soon, I think the cloud WILL be the majority hosting Bitcoin Core Node's if things like 3 days to synchronize takes even longer in the future. The convenience of being able to spin out a server with the software you have on it damn near instantly is too powerful, and too "futuristicly" fast. https://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/44jpai/newest_programming_excuse_waiting_for_bitcoin/czqogtg
I've been trying to transfer a few more bitcoins into litecoins. But this time takes so long for bitcoin core to sync. Compare to litecoin core, anyone could feel the difference of speed. Anyhow, i'll still keep waiting.
for some reason I saw nothing about this when I searched... First, check your computers performance manager while Bitcoin Core is syncing, and find what the bottleneck is. Is it CPU? Disk? Ram? All of the above? For me, it was my little hard drive, and disabling APM definitely increased my speed. It is hard to say exactly how much, but over the course of a day I went through 4+ more weeks of syncing than I did without it. https://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/44ngsp/newest_programming_excuse_bitcoin_core/ If you don't know what APM is, its basically a power saving feature which manages the hard drive. For Windows, this little program called "CrystalDiskInfo" gives you easy management of your hard drive, and you can learn to disable APM from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHs7Xv4maig For Linux, use HDParm somehow(heh heh silly linux users and their command line non button clicking-ness-computer-cavemen jk you guys are alright)
Hello everybody, I was an early adopter of cryptos. I started with Bitcoins in 2013 and operated with Localbitcoins and MtGOX. After the MtGOX crack (where I lost close to 10 BTC) I decided I was going to manage my cryptos at home. Thus, I installed Bitcoin Core, synchronized and moved all my remaining BTCs home. I've been 4 years executing it on a weekly basis. Over 100Gb of DB and longer and longer waiting times made the process more and more painful for my Intel I3 old pc. Then ETH and LTC and other coins appeared. I got into them via Kraken and decided to do exactly the same: ethereum node and Litecoin Core executed localy and backups of my wallets.dat files. But that is just not possible anymore. ETH is extremely slow, my SSD is full and I just cannot have the PC working 24h to synchronize fully. Now I have everything in Kraken and I fear another MtGOX. So my question is: how can I safely store my cryptos at home without depending on an external agent? Thanks a lot! TL;DR: I store my BTC, LTC and ETH runing the core apps in my home PC. I don't have enough Hardware to continue doing that. What are the alternative solutions that don't rely on third parties?
Received bitcoin but it is not in my wallet, Bitcoin Core still synchronizing?
I am new to bitcoins and I have been using Bitcoin Core as a wallet, I have received some bitcoins on my bitcoin core address, however it says there is no balance on my account. Bitcoin Core is still synchronizing with the network and is 1 year and 33 weeks behind. It has been a few days of synchronizing with turning the computer on and off. Do I have to wait for Bitcoin Core to be synchronized so I can see my received bitcoins on my balance?
Bitcoin Core is stuck "synchronizing with network"
Three months ago I tried to transfer money to my Bitcoin wallet over Bitcoin Core and it got stuck "synchronizing with network". It says there is more than 1 year left. and keeps fluctuating with no progress. I was sending coins from the circle app on my iphone to my 2012 mac laptop with Bitcoin Core. How can I either fix this to complete the transfer or cancel the whole thing and get my money back? very new and stupid please help
I'm sorta new with bitcoin and I was wondering why my synchronization is taking so long. Also, what is this "Blockchain" thing everyone is talking about and what are the advantages of using it? Will it make the synchronizing happen more quickly?
Last time I used bitcoin core was in 2014, and when I started it up yesterday it started to sync with the network. in 36 hours the loading bar has moved probably two pixels. What can I do to speed up the process? There's still 1y23w left
Bitcoin core is taking weeks to synchronize with the network?
I don't know too much about bitcoin and hope to learn a lot more about it. Right now I'm using what seems to be the most generic wallet even though it might not be the best. Bitcoin core as of now has been synchronizing with the network for multiple weeks. Right now it says 42 weeks left. Each day it's been progressing at around one week per day which would at this rate take over a month. I do use my laptop while it's running in the background if that changes anything. Does anyone know why it's taking so long or any alternative ways to make it faster?
I sent bitcoins to my Bitcoin Core wallet, but it's taking forever to synchronize. Is there any way i can transfer my bitcoins to a different wallet without finishing synchronizing Bitcoin Core? Or is there a way i can speed up the synchronization? Thank you for the help.
I just recently downloaded bitcoin core, and had to catch up to more than 6 years worth of blocks. I was about 60% along, when bitcoin core crashed and I had to start from scratch. Would using a different wallet be a better idea? Or is this something I have to go through with all wallets?
Technically speaking, synchronizing is the process of downloading and verifying all previous Bitcoin transactions on the network. For some Bitcoin clients to calculate the spendable balance of your Bitcoin wallet and make new transactions, it needs to be aware of all previous transactions. This step can be resource intensive and requires sufficient bandwidth and storage to accommodate the full ... So the P2P networking code in Bitcoin Core is not great and can be improved significantly; there are movements to do that already. That will decrease sync time. Regardless, it's best not to burden full nodes with archival data and just download the torrent* of the chain up to a point (e.g. one month ago) then sync with the network up to the present by putting it in your data directory and ... If you are just getting into Bitcoins and started by installing the Bitcoin wallet on your computer you may notice that the synchronization process with the Bitcoin network is taking up quite some time. This is due to the very large blockchain that has been generated so far and it will continue to grow even bigger, so besides more than 10 Gigabytes of space you need to be ready to wait a bit ... Bitcoin Wallet synchronisieren – Die Synchronisation. Bitcoin Core is capable of full sync in a relatively short period of time depending mainly on the hardware. Most of the work done is not actually downloading the blocks, it is validating them and every transaction that they contain. It not only depends on downloading the blocks but also on the quantity and complexity of every transaction. The downloading of the blocks themselves is usually not ...
